The goal of Bikeathon Făgăraș Country Think GLOBAL | Act LOCAL is to promote the SDGs through the annual cycling event. The project, implemented by Făgăraș Country Community Foundation, engages local and international communities, encouraging active participation in initiatives that support the development of the Făgăraș region.
The project includes management, communication, training, and the organization of Bikeathon events in Romania, the Netherlands, and Canada.

Key activities include:

• Developing a communication strategy and integrating SDGs into promotional materials,
• Training Bikeathon participants on SDGs and their integration into projects,
• Collaborating with municipalities, businesses, and NGOs,
• Organizing cycling events and fundraising campaigns.

Project progress will be assessed through baseline and endline surveys, participant feedback, and an analysis of fundraising results. The evaluation will measure SDG awareness among participants, the project’s impact on local communities, and the financial success of Bikeathon.

The project addresses the need to enhance awareness and implementation of SDGs in local communities. Organizers identified the need for education, partnership building, and financial support for local initiatives through previous Bikeathon editions, which have engaged thousands of participants and donors over 11 years.

The project refers to all 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with a special focus on education, partnerships, sustainable local development, and responsible resource management. Awareness campaigns will be conducted through social media, events, and training to reach a broad audience, including schools, businesses, and public institutions.
