The “Connecting to Sustainable Development Goals through Local Civic Initiatives in Buzău” project, implemented by the Buzău Community Foundation, focuses on raising awareness and engaging the local community in achieving key SDGs. By addressing seven critical SDGs – Health (SDG 3), Education (SDG 4), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Life on Land (SDG 15) – the project strives to foster local action and collaboration towards a more sustainable future.

Building on over six years of experience in community development, the project engages local stakeholders through a variety of activities:

1. Video Interviews: Five documentary-style videos will be produced, each focusing on one SDG. Featuring civic leaders, NGOs, and businesses, these videos will reach at least 1,000 views per video within six months, spreading awareness of the SDGs across the community.
2. Social Evenings: Five interactive events will bring together at least 100 participants for engaging discussions on SDGs. These events will allow for the exchange of ideas and the development of local initiatives aimed at tackling sustainability challenges.
3. Official SDG Declaration: The creation of an SDG Declaration will formalize the commitment of the Buzău Community Foundation and other local organizations to the SDGs, encouraging further collaborations and the development of sustainability-focused projects.
4. Communication & Promotion: Awareness campaigns through social media and local media outlets will play a key role in broadening the project’s impact, helping to engage a wider community in SDG efforts.

The success of the project will be measured by achieving at least 1,000 views per documentary video, engaging a minimum of 70 participants across the five “Social Evenings,” and securing the adoption of the SDG Declaration by at least 10 local organizations.

This initiative brings together a diverse group of partners, including non-profits, local institutions (schools, local government), media outlets, donors, and civic leaders. Their collective efforts will ensure the successful implementation of the SDGs in Buzău, fostering long-term collaboration and community-driven sustainable actions.

By fostering collaboration across various sectors, this project not only raises awareness of the SDGs but also creates a lasting model for community-led initiatives aimed at sustainable development.
