Engaging School Communities in Sustainable Development Goals

This material has been developed based on research conducted by the Snow Mountain Community Foundation in schools as part of the 7th round of the GCLS. Its purpose is to provide valuable insights and resources related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to foster social engagement within school communities.

Research Overview

The research involved 185 students and 46 teachers, exploring the level of engagement within school communities in addressing the SDGs through social initiatives.

Key Findings

  • Environmental Care: 67% of teachers felt they had a significant impact.
  • Rule of Law: 41% of teachers were unsure about their influence.
  • Well-being: 41% of teachers were also unsure about their influence in this area.
  • Interest in Knowledge: 75% of teachers expressed a desire to expand their knowledge of the SDGs.
  • Motivators for Action: 54% identified funding opportunities as a primary motivator for action.

The study highlighted the necessity of integrating SDGs into school missions and fostering local partnerships to enhance well-being, environmental care, and cooperation.

Presentation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals

To further this mission, we would like to present the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a comprehensive context that emphasizes their significance and relevance. Each goal will include:

  • A detailed description
  • Intriguing facts about the world, the European Union, and Poland in relation to that specific goal
  • Practical actions that can be implemented to achieve these goals- individually, within your family, and through your company or organization.

This initiative aims to raise awareness and foster engagement within our school community, emphasizing how each individual can contribute to a more sustainable future.

Conclusion

The materials have been prepared by the Snow Mountain Community Foundation and translated by the Academy for the Development of Philanthropy in Poland. We encourage you to engage with these resources, participate in initiatives, and share this information within your community to help achieve a sustainable future for all.
