For the FUTURE-FIT PECS!
PECS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Hungary
ABOUT the CF: The Pecs Community Foundation was set up in 2016 in a city having 145 000 residents with the aim of promoting community philanthropy. The slogan of the CF: Local Empowerment Out of Local Resources. Our goal is to identify and develop community initiatives that can stimulate prospective donors and building a broader network of collaborators, thus strengthening the pool of community assets able to effect positive difference in the local community. The CF organizes fundraising events and campaigns, gives grants to community projects, runs funds and tries to connect local goals with global agendas.
PROJECT TITLE: For the FUTURE-FIT PECS – FACE THE CRITICAL FUTURE, WORK TOGETHER, TRANSFORM the city of PECS to be more FUTURE-FIT!
THE PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project aims at putting a spotlight on many of the social issues the world is still grappling with and advocating the implementation of the 2030 agenda locally. The goal is to promote the deeper understanding of SDGs through the varied communication channels and tools ranging from lighter, more entertaining forms to encountering more expert-driven ones. The series of events and the publicizing campaign will obviously provide a broader base of interconnections and mobilization to start collaborative working. Quiz games, roundtable discussions, podcast production and platforms will be created, Open days will be offered to exploring local solutions, promotion activities will reach the summer outdoor festivals, and contribution to the city’s new sustainability strategy is envisioned also as a key activity. At the local Learning Festival an Interactive map will be displayed to show the proactive actors/ projects identified in the city working for the innovative local solutions for SDGs.

SDG TARGETS: SDGs do comply with the CF’s priorities to create a more future-fit city. All of them will be promoted, discussed, but mostly the social ones will take centre stage. In partnership with Amnesty International Pecs-Branch the human rights issues also will be heavily focused on. Among the SDGs: Goal 3,5,7,8,11,12,13 are very relevant to the local community. Naturally, achieving SDGs is complicated by the multiple interconnected social, economic and environmental issues involved.
