Help for Ukrainians living in Banská Bystrica region

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The goal of the project was to support inclusion of Ukrainians living in the Banská Bystrica region and make their life at least a little bit easier. The main objectives were to provide a necessary material help in a manner to respect their dignity, to provide workshops on inclusion and how to help refugees to get integrated to various local stakeholders, to organize summer community integration activities, to provide Slovak language courses and to support activities for children during summer vacation.
Thanks to the GCLS program the HCCF was able to provide material help to approx. 2500 families. During the summer period from July to September about 60 volunteers participated regularly in providing help. School supplies were provided for 240 children. Till the end of September there were 4 language courses and several others continuing in a new format –evening and weekends courses for those who are employed, specialized for medical staff and children’s courses.
They had a one day seminar provided by their partner People in need, civic association, and they continue in providing ongoing consultations in case of need. The CF coordinates the local humanitarian platform consisting of several local NGOs, branches of national/ international NGOs and individuals. The CF prepared and updated a manual with contacts and services for Ukrainians in our region. Moreover, they supported summer camps and free time activities for 50 children whose mothers have jobs.
