Good Practices

Meet the GCLS Round 9 Grantees- Odorheiu Secuiesc Community Foundation (Romania)

Doctors, teachers, students and local employers are joining forces to answer three everyday questions: How can we stay healthier? How can young people gain practical skills? And what opportunities already exist close to home?

In the Odorhei region of Romania, many people and organisations are already working on these challenges, but their efforts are rarely connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This campaign brings those local stories together through a series of short videos, mini-documentaries and podcasts that show how global goals can be understood through everyday life.

The campaign follows health professionals leading prevention and well-being sessions, young people taking part in hands-on STEAM workshops, and local companies opening their doors to students exploring future careers. Doctors, educators, business leaders and young participants will share their experiences, showing how health, education and decent work are closely linked.

For the local community, these topics are especially relevant. Rural schools have limited access to practical STEAM education, young people often know little about career opportunities in their own region, and health education still focuses more on treatment than prevention. By highlighting existing local solutions, the campaign makes these issues easier to understand and discuss.

Viewers will discover practical examples of cooperation between schools, healthcare providers and businesses, learn about careers available in the region, and see how local actions contribute to global goals.

This project addresses SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
