Heavy rain, long periods of drought, and drying streams are becoming part of everyday life in and around Pécs. On the southern slopes of the Mecsek Hills, local residents are already seeing how climate change affects forests, neighbourhoods, and public spaces. This video campaign follows the people working to make the city more resilient by bringing nature back into urban planning.

The series combines local stories, expert knowledge, and practical demonstrations. Viewers will meet volunteers, researchers, community groups, and young people who are monitoring local conditions, planting Miyawaki mini forests, creating rain gardens, watering newly planted trees, improving soil through composting, and exploring the city’s emerging Sponge City approach. Workshops, festivals, and community activities will accompany each video, giving residents opportunities to learn and take part.

For Pécs, these actions offer practical ways to respond to growing environmental pressures while connecting local knowledge with long-term city plans. The videos will help viewers understand how healthy soil, water retention, biodiversity, and community action all work together to create greener, more resilient neighbourhoods.
