Cycling has become much more than a sport in Romania’s Făgăraș region. Every year, Bikeathon brings together residents, volunteers, schools, charities, businesses, and local institutions to support community projects. In 2026, this well-known event will also become the setting for a series of short films that connect local action with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The video campaign follows five different stories from Bikeathon. Viewers will meet people improving access to health services, creating better learning opportunities, restoring public spaces, and building partnerships across the community. The films combine mini-documentaries, interviews, personal stories, and event footage to show how these projects grow from local needs and the people behind them. A final video returns to several featured initiatives to document what has changed after the event.

Many residents already take part in these activities without realizing they contribute to global goals. By linking familiar projects to the SDGs, the campaign helps explain how everyday actions can support healthier communities, better education, and more welcoming public spaces. Local voices remain at the centre of every story, showing how cooperation between citizens, schools, NGOs, businesses, and public institutions shapes life across the region.

Through these videos, audiences will gain a practical understanding of how the SDGs relate to daily life and discover how community-led projects can create lasting results through collaboration.
