Good Practices

Meet the GCLS Round 9 Grantees-Vicenza Community Foundation (Italy)

A single act of giving can shape a community for years to come. In the Italian province of Vicenza, local families, donors, and community members are coming together through a community foundation to turn personal generosity into practical solutions for real social needs.

While many residents know individual local projects, few realize how a community foundation acts as long-term infrastructure to support inclusive neighborhoods, health, and well-being. To bridge this gap, the foundation is producing a flagship documentary and three short video stories featuring real community members, local partners, and donors. Through personal examples—such as dedicated community funds, direct donations, and charitable legacies—the videos show how local resources are pooled to tackle pressing challenges like disability inclusion and family support.

Beyond digital sharing, the campaign will take these stories straight into public spaces across 65 municipalities. By integrating the videos into local civic centers, health center waiting areas, and regional events, the project opens an ongoing conversation about how civic philanthropy directly impacts everyday life.

The resulting video materials are designed as reusable educational assets, published under an open license so other European community foundations can adapt the approach. Viewers will discover how practical giving transforms daily life and how collective action turns abstract global goals into lasting local benefits.

This project addresses SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities)
